Craftmanship
Keeping hands and heritage at the heart of design
India has never been short of makers. India’s craft traditions are as diverse as the landscapes they come from, shaped over centuries by hands that have learnt, practised and perfected their knowledge across generations. But as ways of living change, many of these crafts and the communities that sustain them find themselves at risk of being forgotten. Cultales exists, to create another path forward; one where traditional knowledge can meet contemporary design and where the hands behind an object are valued as much as the object itself. We seek to work with artisans and artists, creating meaningful opportunities for their skills, stories and livelihoods to continue. By giving these hands a place in the present, we hope to help ensure that the traditions they carry have a future.
